My UX Camp London adventures
UXCampLondon 1.5 from Jessica’s Posterous

UXCampLondon is just a week away! Saturday 17 April, to be precise.

Demand was higher than even we anticipated – a great indication of how the UX scene in Britain is flourishing. If you have a ticket but now don’t think you can make it, please let us know as soon as possible onuxcamplondon@googlemail.com. We won’t judge you. There are lots of people in the reserve list giving us puppy dog eyes and we’d love to give them a good home.

Getting there

The lovely people of LBi are generously giving us access to their brand new meeting space in Brick Lane. There are lots of rooms both big and small to choose from.

The best way to get to Brick Lane from the underground is Liverpool Street. Take the Bishopsgate West exit (near platforms 11-13). Turn right onto Brushfield Street. Cross Commercial Street. Turn right onto Fournier Street. At T-junction with Brick Lane turn left. LBi is about 300 metres away on the right.

Please turn up between 9 and 9.45. We’ll start the intro session at 10am sharp.

On the day

If it’s your first BarCamp, you might be wondering what to expect. We recommend Vero Pepperrell’s excellent BarCamp Virgin’s Guide
to find out why BarCamps are different to other conferences. As you know, all attendees are also participants, so start thinking about your session. Everyone has 30 minutes for a presentation / panel / discussion group / demo / whatever. Rough and ready, improvised, polished, it’s up to you. Sign up for a slot on the day and knock ‘em 
dead.

You’ll probably want to bring:

a laptop, plus its chargers and cables (Mac users, you might want to bring a DVI to VGA adapter for the projectors)

a presentation of some kind. It’s a good idea to back it up onto a USB stick.

business cards

a spare power strip if you have one. They’re really useful.

You’ll have free access to the LBi guest wifi on the day.

Food and drink

This year we are doing things a little differently. We invite you all to bring your own food to the camp and share it with your fellow campers potluck style.

We are working on finding a pub to gather at after the event. More details on the venue will follow.
